Submissions for the Fall 2012 Silhouette are Open.
If you currently are an undergraduate or graduate student at Virginia Tech, we welcome your submissions.
You can submit your work in person at 344 Squires or you can upload your documents to us via our online submissions uploader.
Please Do Not Put Your Name On Your Submission.
Also, all submitted files must be named the title of the work being submitted. For example, a file of a photo that is titled ‘Rain’ should be labeled ‘Rain’ – we will not accept any files that are labeled ‘Untitled’ or something similar to ‘DSC_0000.’
Should the uploader ever be inaccessible, you can email your submission to us at submit@collegemedia.com. Download our literary submission form or our art submission form, as well as our license agreement. Both forms must be completed in order to submit. Again, this is only required if the uploader is not available for use and you are emailing submissions in.
Uploader / Email Submissions
- If emailing, Please include your full name and the title of the work in the body of your e-mail.
- Please do not exceed 2 MB or the submission will not be received.
- Artwork must be scanned at 300 dpi and have a dimension of at least 4”x6”.
- Artwork should be in .tif, .jpg, .eps, .bmp, .psd, .pdf, or .ai file formats.
- Literature should be in .doc, .otd, .txt, or .rtf file formats. We cannot accept .docx format at this time.
Art
Our magazine is printed in color, so B&W and color submissions are acceptable. We allow any sort of artwork: Illustrations, building designs, clothing mock-ups, graphs, doodles, and much more. If you would like to submit a sculpture or any other three-dimensional installation piece, a photograph will suffice. We will accept up to 10 submissions from each person.
Photography
We accept photography in black and white as well as in color. We also require a resolution of 300dpi. We will accept up to 10 submission from each person.
Literature
We accept poety, non-ficiton essays, humor columns, short fiction, and other prose. When submitting prose, please double space and use 12 point font. Please keep submissions under 10 pages. The space in the magazine is limited. Please keep poetry to one poem per page. We will accept up to 5 submissions of any combination of poetry and prose from each person.
